A departure board on a Fire TV
A Fire TV Stick is the cheapest way to turn a TV you already own into a departures board: no computer to build, just a browser on the TV. Ten minutes end to end.
What you need
- Any Fire TV Stick (or Fire TV built into the set) with its remote.
- The TV's screensaver/sleep settings within reach — see step 3.
1. Install a browser
From the Fire TV's Appstore, install Amazon Silk Browser (search "Silk" or "Internet"). It's Amazon's own browser for Fire TV and drives fine with the remote.
2. Open and set up the board
In Silk, go to app.norimono.live/board. Open Settings (the gear), set your location by typing a place or postcode, pick your stops, and save. The D-pad on the remote does all of it — it takes a few minutes once. Your choices are stored in Silk on this device, so the board comes back after a restart.
3. Switch the screensaver off
Fire TV's screensaver would otherwise replace the board after idle minutes: go to Settings → Display & Sounds (or Display & Audio) → Screensaver → Start Time → Never. Menu names vary a little between Fire OS versions. Check the TV's own sleep timer too.
4. Leave it running
Back in Silk, the board fills the screen and refreshes itself about once a minute — live times where vehicles are tracked, timetable otherwise. If the TV or stick is powered off, opening Silk again lands back on the board with your stops.
Tips
- TVs and burn-in: a static board on some panel types (especially OLED) can burn in over long periods — the board's dark theme and a nightly power-off on a plug timer both help.
- More on screen: the free plan shows up to 4 stops; Plus and Pro raise the limits — enter the key on the TV's board (Settings → Plan & licence).
